GEP CoP |
GEP’s aim is to promote a community-led space where feminist practice, pedagogy and research fluidly intersect and IDS-associated gender equality practitioners (e.g., alumni, educators, researchers, partners and invited peers) can openly share professional and lived experiences, connect with peers, collaborate widely and in diverse ways, and exchange tested knowledge, expertise and resources for social change.
The Knowledge Agenda works by exploring 6 themes (one theme every 2 months) over the course of a year, enabling rich discussions and content to be generated by the CoP.
This year's themes were chosen by GEP community members. We asked those wishing to become a member to fill in a survey expressing their top three themes they wished to explore in the community. Based on members responses, we chose the six most popular themes to determine our Knowledge Agenda 2023-2024.
Every new theme will be kicked off by a formal online and interactive Knowledge Sharing Session (KSS) hosted by a GEP member and discussions will continue afterwards on an online forum. Members also then have the opportunity to host their own KSS within that theme.
We showcase Featured GEPs, members who have expertise knowledge in this specific theme and are happy to share that knowledge with you. You can click on their profile to send them a direct message or write to them in the e-discussion by tagging them using @ button. If you want to become a featured GEP, please contact us.
Knowledge Sharing Sessions (KSS) are events hosted by GEP members and relate to a particular theme from the Knowledge Agenda.
A Knowledge Sharing Session can be any activity that generates collaborative learning within the community such as:
Any member of the GEP community is welcome to host a KSS and active participation is encouraged from everyone!
Each theme will be kicked off by a formal online and interactive Knowledge Sharing Session on the last Tuesday of the month at 9:00 AM UK Time (the time can be flexible, we suggest 9:00AM as it is suitable for the majority of our current members).
Here are some useful guidelines for designing for online participation and tips for presenting, if you need any further support, please contact us.
The online discussion forum allows conversations from Knowledge Sharing Sessions to continue online, enable members to ask questions, receive peer to peer support and share knowledge and expertise.
It is a safe space for interaction, collaboration and critical discussion, please remember to be kind and considerate and use trigger warnings where appropriate. Please familiarise yourself with the ground rules before posting in the forum.
Please use hashtags where appropriate to indicate which theme/topic you are speaking to and remember, you can reply directly to posts, use the @ button to tag other GEP members as well as 'like' members posts.
Comments from the e-discussion will be included in a weekly roundup email sent to all members to ensure you don't miss any part of the conversation, you can opt out of these emails by going to 'My Settings' or contacting us.
Each theme will have a Knowledge Base, where members can share resources (external links and uploaded files) relating to the theme. These can be anything from toolkits to journal articles - but please remember to ensure they are free to access!
We encourage hosts of KSS to produce a Knowledge Product at the end of their session, a small document that contains a summary and list of outcomes from the session which can be stored in the Knowledge Base.
We want the whole GEP community to benefit from the Knowledge Sharing Sessions, therefore we wish to record all sessions and add them to the Knowledge Base. If for any reason you are not comfortable with being recorded and the content being posted to the community, please contact us.
