4.00pm-5.30pm UK Time
Presenters: Ennio Rodriguez and Heather Williams
Can qualitative and quantitative research methods be feminist or not?
Do you want to explore how the different research approaches contribute towards our understanding of gender, social justice and equality? Then, join us for an engaging and thought provoking event as we explore/delve into these important questions.
Speakers will include: Dr Ennio Rodriguez (AAC Chair), who will share findings from a recent study involving surveys, statistical analysis and data interpretation on the gender pay gap in Costa Rica; and Heather Williams (IDS PhD Researcher), who will share her experience on conducting research with vulnerable women using feminist qualitative methods and some of the challenges she faced as a researcher, as well as researching vulnerable women.
Questions to think about:
Do quantitative research methods imply a positivist epistemology, or can they be used within a feminist theory and approach?
