The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) is the driving force of investment in environmental science in the UK.

Apply for funding to pursue an ambitious, high risk and high reward curiosity-driven project in environmental research. The FEC of your project can be up to £950,000, with NERC funding 80% of the FEC.

NERC: Urgency Funding

This funding aims to respond quickly to transient, unexpected environmental research opportunities created by sporadic natural occurrences such as earthquakes, droughts, floods, or ephemeral events in ecosystems. The FEC of your project can be up to £100,000. We will fund up to 80% of FEC. Projects are expected to last up to one year.

NERC: Work with US-based Researchers on Environmental Science

This funding opportunity allows UK and US-based researchers to submit a collaborative application to either NSF or NERC under existing funding programmes. Applications will go through a single review process. For NSF-led applications, the UK applicant may request up to £300,000 (FEC).
